Fourah Bay College – a health risk!
Sierra Leone’s hope of learning, Fourah Bay College (FBC), stinks due to unclean items that litter its hostels. This disgraceful unhygienic abhoration poses a health threat to students and anyone in the vicinity. It’s a wonder students are not lining the hospitals for treatment of dysentery and the like!
Our reporter has captured photos of the squalor our students are paying to and live and learn in. One only has to look at the filth in the bathrooms to know that handwashing does not take place, taps do not even line up with the sinks! It just takes one student to pick up some life-threatening bacteria, leave the bathroom, then go on their merry way to spread the germs around the college for others to pick up. This poses an epidemic waiting to happen!
It is reported that monies meant for the cleaning and upkeep of the college are siphoned by persons positioned as management officials. This is a national embarrassment for a country once known as “the Athens of West Africa.”
The photographs below say it all …

It is a shame and disgrace for an higher institution like Fourah Bay College to get so low as far as failing to get the student to live in a cleaning environment is concerned. The Ministry of Education should carry a thorough investigation for non-availability of cleaning materials to sanitize the bathrooms, classes and the offices. This is a receipe for disaster if this issue is not addressed immediately. My major concern is for the poor students not to contract diseases and if it happens the student body should execute legal options for the negligency of the authorities and should serve as a deterrent.Cleaning environment is good for a healthy brain and the students deserve it at all possible costs.
