HANCI doles out Le25 Million – needy homes smile
Help a Needy Child International (HANCI) September 18th donated school items to some 40 families, exit packages to 18 families, business support to 8 families and 3 female goats to three families. The donation, according HANCI, was to support needy families in towns and villages across the country and made under the Active Family Support Project.
It could be recalled that HANCI in January of 2007, closed the orphanages it owned after it was realized that vulnerable Sierra Leoneans better appreciate support on education and food than being taken on by unknown parents.
This, according HANCI, was the true reason for the birth of the Active Family Support project.
It is reported that the new system is gradually alleviating the bad conditions of children in homes where parents suffer terminal illness and disabilities.
To HANCI, the new strategy will prevent children separating from their parents because of poverty.
“As at the start of 2010/2011 school year, HANCI is proud to announce that it has donated educational material to 83 primary school children, 63 to Secondary school pupils and to 2 technical vocational institutions,” say of HANCI’s Director.
In an interview with the Regional Co coordinator, Osman Toronka disclosed that pupils getting support under the family support project, receive singularly, one year school fee, uniform, shoe, books, pens, pencils and a bag.
It is also told that HANCI has retained 10 families in the Family Support Project and are to receive benefits in the next three months.
Beneficiaries say with HANCI their children now attend school uninterrupted.
That with the initiated family support project of HANCI, many families have had jolly good times.
Sources say pregnant women also benefit from the goodies of HANCI’s humanitarian offers.
