During a courtesy call on him by the Commonwealth Secretariat’s Head of Thematic Programmes Group John K. Wilkins and the West African Adviser on Governance and Institutional Development Division Oluwatoyin A. Job, at State House, President Koroma said the timing of the conference was very appropriate in the transformation of the country: “Before now, the relationship between ministers and civil servants was less than satisfactory… There has always been a need for collaboration between the two groups… The conference has therefore been a very successful forum in terms of frankness and the expertise brought into it…After the forum, they have developed a new spirit of collaboration, and I hope this new enthusiasm between ministers and civil servants will move the country forward as we strive to sustain the momentum.”
The President revealed that he would launch the project for the construction of a public service academy tomorrow and hoped that it would be the institution to effect a turn-around in the training of civil servants and make work a lot easier in implementing his government’s Agenda for Change.
In his remarks, Mr. Wilkins emphasized the benefits of working together, and assured the President of the Commonwealth Secretariat’s continued support for the Agenda for Change.
He was led in audience by State House Chief of Staff Dr. Keifala Marrah.
