SLAJ lauds recall of rude Zenith Bank Managing Director
Freetown – The Sierra Leone Association of Journalists is pleased to learn that the Managing Director of Zenith Bank Sierra Leone has left the country after the association gave a one-week deadline for her recall by her employers which expired last night.
Oby Ikeh Unekwe rained insults on journalist, Kadijatu Sesay who had simply called her to cross-check allegations that she was maltreating staff of her bank and living an ostentatious lifestyle at the expense of her institution. She sounded irredeemably rude against the journalist but later apologised to her and her family at a meeting with Commissioners of the Independent Media Commission.
SLAJ wishes to thank all those who stood by the journalist during the incident, especially media houses, and encourages them to always do so regardless of the journalist that comes under attack. “An attack on any journalist must be seen as an attack on all of us”, says SLAJ President Umaru Fofana.
