Sierra Leone invited to wash the Kaa’ba in Mecca
Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia and the Gulf States and also Permanent Representative to the Â Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) Tuesday 13th July, 2010 joined high profile dignitaries in the ceremonial washing of the Holy Kaa’ba (The Black Stone) in Mecca. H.E. Wusu B.Munu who was amongst the Governor of Mecca, Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, who performed the ceremony on behalf of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Al- Saud, the Chechen President, Ramzan A. Kadyrov, accredited Muslim diplomats in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and other senior government officials said he was pleased to take part in that all important religious ceremony.
“I think it is a milestone in the Islamic faith of reverence and purification. I feel honoured and privileged to be amongst the invitees,” Ambassador Munu said shortly after returning from the ceremony.
The washing of the Kaa’ba takes place twice a year “ in the month preceeding the fasting Shabaan and in Dhul Hijjah. The Kingdom observed this tradition in accordance with the guidance and teaching of the Muslim faith.
It would be recalled that, the Head of Chancery and Minister Counsellor, Mr. Ibrahim S. Yilla also took part in the last washing of the black stone. The Kaa’ba is the most holy house in Islam where all Muslims around the world turn during prayers.
