Abolition of the Ministry of Presidential and Public Affairs and appointment of Chief of Staff at State House

Consequent upon a functional review of the Office of the President undertaken by the African Center for Economic Transformation (ACET), His Excellency the President has graciously approved a range of structural and operational reforms for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the Presidency. These include the abolition of the Ministry of Presidential and Public Affairs and the creation of the technical position of Chief of Staff in the Office of the President. The incumbent will among other functions ensure execution of the President’s Agenda for Change by providing the necessary collaborative links and support for the Ministries, Departments and Agencies to meet their various targets.

It has pleased His Excellency the President, Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma, to appoint Dr Kaifala Marah as Chief of Staff in the Office of the President with immediate effect. Dr Marah is on secondment from the Commonwealth Secretariat where he serves as Adviser, Public Expenditure Management.

Pursuant to the provisions of Section 67 of the Constitution of Sierra Leone 1991, the Secretary to the President will continue to carry out his statutory functions including the administration and management of the Office of the President.
