Nanette Thomas thanks attendees of SLAHs first fundraiser

The successful event was held at the Hampton Conference Center, Capitol Heights, Maryland, USA on Saturday 10 October, 2009.   After a sumptuous dinner attendees danced the night away and raised over $14,000  from  ticket sales, donations, and an auction.  This was a fantastic achievement and Ms. Thomas expressed a vote of thanks on behalf of SLAH to all attendees for their gracious generosity and contribution to making the first fundraiser a monumental occasion. 

Addressing those in attendance Dr. John Sandy, Chair of the SLAH board, expressed his gratitude for the massive support the organization had received.  He also thanked the SLAH board members for all their hard work and sacrifice.

“SLAH is a registered (501)c organization and donations of $250+ are tax deductible.  The organization expects to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars by the year 2011, and with the majestic amount made last Saturday, SLAH is off to a great start,” said Ms. Thomas.

Ms. Thomas said it is important for Sierra Leoneans to work collectively to make a better Sierra Leone for all and future generations to come.  She encouraged Sierra Leoneans to be involved in the rebuilding of their homeland and participate in any small way possible.
