Where is John Bono Sisay?
As the fight for the All People Congress (APC) party’s Presidential Flagbearer bid continues, one of the aspirants, John Bono Sisay who is the former Chief Executive Officer, Sierra Rutile Limited has disappeared in the news headlines.
Sisay retired from his lucrative job to become next President of the Republic of Sierra Leone but it appears as if the line to the Presidency is so long within the All Peoples Congress (APC) in a way that many aspirants have started slowing down their ambition because at the end of the day only one person will emerge standard bearer of the party.
The former Rutile Boss is a fine and quite gentle man but it will be uneasy for him to win the APC Presidential Flagbearer bid because he belongs to the upper class of people which means he is less interacting with commoners who formed large part of the voting population.
In the Sierra Leone politics, one can only succeed if he/she overcomes support among lower class of people like the traders, technicians among others within the informal trade sector but it will be difficult for a politician to make it up without total grass root support.
Sisay abandoned his Rutile job in a bid to become President but the road to the Presidency is very tough for him because in Sierra Leone one can only become a President through contesting a democratic election under a reputable political party.
A President is specially chosen by God and loved by the people. In that regard, CEO Sisay should have continued enjoying his job rather than chasing the Presidency under a political party that has so many influential politicians who are desperate to clinch certain powers.
