Chief Justice to Settle Land Dispute

The Honourable Chief Justice Abdulai Charm has stepped into the protracted land dispute between the neighbouring villages of Robarie and Worreh Makankry in the Makarie Gbantie Chiefdom, Bombali District.

This latest development was confirmed to this medium in an exclusive interview with the Headman of Worreh Makankry, Mr. Lamin Kamara, and Mr. Issa Kalokoh of Robarie.

According to them, Chief Justice Abdulai Charm has in his wisdom decided to amicably resolve the land dispute between the two villages in order to not only avert violence among the poor people but to also ensure the rightful owners work on the said land so that justice would prevail.

It could be recalled that the Law Officer and State Counsel in Makeni, Bombali District, Yusuf Koroma Esq. ruled against the people of Worreh Makankry in the land dispute in favour of Mr. Issa Kalokoh. According to his ruling, the said land that was naturally divided by a running stream covered with thick forest was privately owned by Mr. Issa Kalokoh.

The indigenes of Makankry, including farmers, youths and elders vehemently resisted the court ruling against them by filing an appeal at the High Court of Sierra Leone.

Report states that the High Court in Freetown has already served Mr. Issa Kalokoh a letter inviting him to appear in court within two weeks.
