Chasing Symbols Fanning Imbroglio

It has been observed that the latest spate of violent confrontations across the country is as a result of the desperate hunt for political party symbols in the run down to the November polls.

Contestants for party tickets, especially that of the main political parties in the country, have degenerated the whole process into a boxing ring.

Incidents of imbroglio during meetings for the award of symbols persists amidst frantic efforts by well-meaning groups to instill the culture of non-violence in our communities.

Lethal instruments and even human feces are being used as tools of intimidation and destruction among party opponents in a process that is supposed to be handled by the people that are being represented.

This renewed spate of violence has become worrisome to the extent that there are mounting fears that the November elections will be marred by a spill-over effect.

Sierra Express Media is averse to this unprecedented development in the tussle for party symbols and therefore urges political parties and their aspirants to view the contest as a ball game wherein the best of attitudes and attributes suits the desire of the electorates.
