Standard Chartered wins most compliant large tax payer’ award at the National Revenue Awards 2011
Freetown January 2012 – Standard Chartered Bank has won the National Revenue Authority Award for Most Compliant Large Tax Payer– organised by the National Revenue Authority (NRA).
The National Revenue Authority Award acknowledges the rapidly transforming tax landscape in Sierra Leone by honouring tax compliance excellence, and by creating local visibility for the best practices in business.
Standard Chartered was complimented by the awarder for outstanding leadership in the large tax payer category, citing exemplary compliance in the following areas; timely and accurate submission of returns and tax obligations, full disclosure and access to all records and information, proactive, professional, technical and sound engagement with the NRA on tax matters; coupled with the Bank’s valued contribution to the national consolidated fund aimed at augmenting sustainable development in Sierra Leone. This award was announced at a dinner in Freetown, attended by more than 300 leaders from the government, (including the Minister of Finance) CEO’s and Finance Directors from the business community.
On receiving the award, Idrissa Kamara, Standard Chartered’s Executive Director of Finance & Admin, Sierra Leone remarked: “This award is a tremendous honour.
