In Tonkolili district 200 acres of sugarcane burnt down

Two hundred acres of sugarcane are reported to have been burnt down in Malal Mara over a week ago.

This was made known to Journalists when the Minister of Trade and Industry,  Alhaji Usman Boie Kamara paid a one day working visit to Malal Mara on Tuesday, February 25. The value of the destruction was estimated to be over two billion Leones.

Media practitioners were also informed that the fire started in the morning hours from another village and spilled over to the sugarcane plantation.

The Police in Lunsar have been informed about the fire accident and they have now launched a full scale investigations into the matter.

It is not quite clear as to how many people have been called for questioning but Police say investigations are ongoing and that anyone found culpable will be arrested and charged to court.
