ASP Murana beats MP, Chief and Councilor

The Member of Parliament for Constituency 109, Hon. Amadu Fofanah aka Fofie, has disclosed to Journalists at a press conference on Friday, October 18 this year at his 103 Pademba Road office in Freetown that he would never forget how he was physically assaulted by Assistant Superintendent of Police Murana on September 26th this year at Sumaila town in Freetown.

He also stated that Councilor Sheka Lamin Dumbuya of Ward 384 in Constituency 109, and Chief Pa Alimamy of Sumaila town were also beaten and thrown into cell by ASP Murana.

He disclosed that he has reported the matter to the Complaint Discipline and Internal Investigations Department (CDIID) at Police headquarters at George Street in Freetown, but that since that time the matter has still not been settled to their satisfaction.

He noted that it was his opinion that since Mr. Francis Alieu Munu became the Inspector General of Police, lawlessness by the Police has increased to unprecedented heights and that he saw no reason why he should continue to be at the helm of affairs at the Sierra Leone Police.

He stated that it was worthy to recall that it is during IGP Munu’s tenure that Operational Support Division (OSD) personnel indiscriminately killed unarmed civilians at Wellington, killed an Okada rider at Goderich, and also killed one woman at Bumbuna, and two demonstrators against Koidu Holdings in Kono.

He said he also recalled how a lot of Journalists have been molested by Police personnel and their and their gadgets seized from them.

He also made mention of how the Police at Waterloo allegedly impounded the Tos-Marie Guest House at Liverpool Street in Waterloo.

Hon. Amadu Fofanah maintained that if such lawlessness was taking place under former Inspector General of Police Brima Acha Kamara, such defaulting Police personnel would have been weeded out of the Police.
