Standing ovation for President Koroma’s 2012 bid

If honour is anything to go by the president has earned it, he has every reason to maintain a comfortable driving seat in the race for the 2012 elections. (Photo: HE President Ernest Bai Koroma)

Youths in the music industry have applauded President Koroma’s love and concern to them over the weekend as he left his resting and scheduled them in their peace festival at the National Stadium main bowl in Freetown.

He has excelled as a leader Sierra Leone has ever had since independence to embrace every sphere of development in the country. He marks as the liberator of Sierra Leone’s intellectual property right tagged as godfather who made it possible to ratify and assented his signature to the bill to protect copyright laws in the country.

Witnessing the much talked about “Artist for Peace Concert” at the National Stadium I was flabbergasted to see the youth reckon his fame to delight. I haven’t seen in my life, youths uniting in such a way to listen in simple ideal – a message of unification as they did at the National Stadium; more so when the president had to call on their cohesion and togetherness. The youths were shouting in Krio “Nar You, Nar you”! (It’s you, it’s you)

This slogan of endorsement of President Koroma’s candidature prompts him to ask them to register massively so that they would have the opportunity to vote in candidates of their choice in the November pools.

Away from the Stadium incident, many happenings around the country testing President Koroma’s popularity attest that he still has the presidential image and clout to rule the country at least for another term.

Following this guess I sampled people’s opinion on President Koroma’s second term option and this is what they told me: One youth said he is impressed with President Koroma’s road infrastructure development. In his view, the road construction is important for the socio-economic growth of the country’s Gross National Product (GDP) –especially that dealing with promoting the rural agricultural Development.

Another youth applauds the free health care initiative of President Koroma which he said has received international and national commendations. He said women and children have been benefiting from the free medical care facilities. From Pujehun in the South to Makeni in the North, women can boast of the free medical care program in the country.

In the area of agriculture, the government of President Koroma has invested in it a lot. The Small Holder Commercialization Program is clear pacesetter, which enables farmers to grow their farm produce thus helping people to get easy access to foods and other commodities.
