In Sierra Leone: Fighting In SLPP – Mohammed Rado Swarray vs Prince Harding
Central Police Turns Battle Field
Personal Security Guards attached to the Chairman and Leader of the ruling Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP), Dr. Alex Prince Harding, who also doubles as the Chairman of the National Telecommunications Commission (NATCOM), are said to have allegedly stabbed one of the relatives to the Information Minister, Mohammed Rado Swarray, during President Bio’s Thank You Tour in Kailahun District.
According to very reliable sources, the attack came as a result of an ongoing intense internal power struggle between the Chairman and Leader and the Organizing Secretary of the SLPP, Mr. Jimmy Battilo Songa, who sources say, is been used by some actors within the party to replace Dr. Harding as Chairman and Leader in the next party convention.
This internal battle, our sources went on, has now seen Dr. Harding ordering his boys to attack anyone that is against his Chairmanship; a situation that has aggravated into the recent stabbings and counter stabbings among members of the party.
According to eye witnesses, provocative songs were sang at Gibril Bangura, one of the security attached to Dr. Harding and when he and his colleagues reacted in equal fold, a security attached to the Information Minister, Rado Swarray, stabbed Gibril Bangura. When he was taken to the hospital for treatment, our sources went on, the Information Minister sent ‘Arata’ an irate youth he had hired from Freetown to attack him and others in the hospital.
It became even bloodier, an eye witness reveals, when Rado’s boy, who was stabbed, came to the Central Police Station to make statement. Things got out of control when both parties including Dr. Prince Harding and his boys and the Organizing Secretary, Battilo Songa and boys stormed the police station causing mayhem at each other to the point of molesting the police officers especially the Head of Crime Services, AIG Brima Jah, in the process.
