The occasion which was held at the Regent Village Community Centre last Sunday attracted senior and junior members of the Word of Life Gospel Church, the Village Headwoman, Jokomie Metzeiger and subjects, victims of the landslide and flood disasters, stakeholders and members from the public.
Handing over the donated items to intended beneficiaries, Senior Pastor for Word of Life Gospel Church, Rev. Rowland E. Gibson who is the only Man of God among the many that are vying to be Mayor of Freetown said the donation came about as a way of responding to the cry of the Regent village Headwoman, Madam Jokomie Metzeiger that her people who are badly affected by the natural occurrences needed humanitarian relief for the fact that they are not benefiting from certain donations.
“In fact that was why we came together as a Church to give aid to the needy”, said the man of God who has been described by thousands of citizens that he is the fittest candidate among the rest to be the next Freetown Mayor because they said, he is spiritually guided.
Receiving the gift on behalf of the victims, Headwoman, Madam Metzeiger expressed gratitude to the leadership of the Word of Life Gospel Church for what she described as timely and wonderful assistance.
She demonstrated transparency and accountability by pronouncing that she would ensure the donated items were distributed among over seventy five (75) intended beneficiaries adding that they will sort out peacefully all donations which comprised twenty gallons of oil, fifty bags of rice, bails of used clothing, cartoons of sent and laundry soap among other things.
She extended special thankfulness to the humanitarian Church on behalf of the Western Rural Council and Government.
One of the elders of the Word of Life Gospel Church, Charles Sulaiman Job said they came together to help these people as a House of God because he said, Jesus said, cry with your brother if he is crying and laugh with him if he is laughing. He prayed for God to receive all those that succumbed to the unforeseen circumstance on the August 14th in his kingdom of Paradise and encouraged beneficiaries to receive the gesture whole heartedly.
One of the female beneficiaries, Haja Bayoh also hailed the leadership of the Church for such a timely relief and recognized the hard work of the Regent Village Headwoman for her advocacy and praised God to have responded to their cries. Other male beneficiary and other stakeholders of the Regent Village Community also expressed similar sentiment.
