Sierra Leone People’s Party Expels 3
The main opposition Sierra Leone People’s Party has in a letter dated 2nd June, 2017, expelled three other senior members of the party for failing to adhere to the party’s NEC resolution of 25th March, 2017 in which section seven (7) of that resolution specifically requested them to withdraw the matter in the Court of Appeal of Sierra Leone.
According to the resolution, these three expelled members, Alusine Bangura, Alex Kargbo and Victor Sheriff were strictly warned to either withdraw the matter or face expulsion from the party which they never adhered to and hence resulted to their expulsion.
According to the letter, the three men failed to comply with NEC’s directive which is a violation of clause 2(5) of the SLPP Constitution of 1995 (as amended) and the punishment for which is expulsion.
The letter further stated that effective 30th March, 2017, the three aforementioned members have ceased to be members of the party and, therefore, all documents including membership cards and contribution cards relating to the SLPP must be retrieved from them and returned to the office of the National Secretary General.
