Mr. Cole who has also vied for the party’s chairmanship and leadership said he was sad to hear the Political Party Registration Commission (PPRC) Chairman, Justice Hamilton on AYV Radio calling some political parties that are ready for the upcoming elections without mentioning RUFP which is one of the oldest and well known political parties in the country.
“Interestingly, all the political parties that Justice Hamilton branded as ready for 2018 elections are yet to hold their conventions just like RUFP,” Cole observed.
The aspiring Chairman and Leader told this medium that the RUFP convention was to be organized on the 12th, 13th, and 14th May, 2017, but due to some unavoidable circumstances, it has been postponed to July, 2017, saying that they are expecting the interim executive to conduct the coming national delegates conference.
He maintained that members vying for positions in the executive are asked to pay certain amounts of money to beef up their financial strength for the convention and bragged that members are complying.
“I am contesting for the position of Party Chairman and Leader, so, I am to pay two million Leones,” Cole said, concluding that the RUFP needs 300 million Leones for the national delegate conference and other regional and district lower level elections.
