Operation Road Safety Nets 24 Drivers

The District Traffic officer (DTO) Congo Cross Divisional Headquarters, ASP Bangura, on Wednesday 15th July, 2015 charged to court 24 drivers and motor bike riders for various traffic offences including defective windscreens, wipers, lights, failing to produce drivers licenses, using an unauthorized route, sub licensing and uninsured vehicles and failing to take passengers to their required destinations.

ASP Bangura intimated that the raid on drivers and motor bike riders is to prevent crashes during the rainy season as most commercial vehicles are defective. He continued that the Sierra Leone Police together with the Sierra Leone Drivers Union (SLDU), Motor Bike Riders Union (MBRU) organized a month sensitization to raise awareness on the dangers of defective vehicles and motor bikes to the driver/rider and pedestrians before the said operation was launched on 13th July this year.

He maintains that regardless of the joint sensitization, drivers and motor bike riders continue to violate the traffic laws hence, they are being charged to court accordingly.

He applauded Sergeant Charley, Sgt. Fatmata and a host of others for their good works at the Congo Cross Divisional Headquarters.
