Sherrington – I am pleased with the team
Sierra Leone national team’s Technical Director John Jebbor Sherrington said he is pleased with his team’s performance despite their 1-0 away loss to Sudan in their opener of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers at the Khartoum National Stadium Sunday night.
Although we did not score the team displayed good football and attacked the home side, especially in the second half.
Speaking after the match, Sherrington said his team was faced with a lot of difficulties ranging from flights, assembling of players, and other internal factors that had an impact on the team but the boys played well, despite I know Sierra Leoneans were expecting something back home that is football it either you win, lose, or draw but I believe we have learnt our mistakes and we are going to start work on it for our next match.
“We came here with one mind to win but you know Sudan is not an easy place to play they are one of the better teams in Africa they have good and constant teams in the CAF Champions league and the Confederations cup so you see their national team have a solid backbone.
According to the former Leone Stars player this loss means they need to do more as he is expecting a tougher match against Cote D’Ivoire in September as Sierra Leone will host the Elephant s in Monrovia on neutral grounds due to the ban WHO place on Sierra Leone due to the Ebola outbreak.
