Riot in Bo City
Reports monitored 4th June 2014 from the southern city of Bo indicate a serious clash between police and commercial motorbike riders (okada riders). No fatality has been reported but the situation remains tense.
The clash broke out following the insistence of the police officers that passengers should put on helmets. Since the outbreak of the Ebola virus, passengers have been refusing to put on public helmets for fear of contracting the Ebola disease.
The attempts of police officers to arrest defaulting passengers and riders resulted in the street battles.
