Skye Bank opens new branch at Cline Town

Since Peter Falohun took up the mantle at Skye Bank Sierra Leone Limited, much progress is been made to transform the bank into a more reliable and trustworthy bank in Sierra Leone. The opening of the new branch at Cline Town on Monday 3rd February 2014 did not come as a surprise. “It is my pleasure to inform you that Skye Bank SL started its operations in 2008 is the first subsidiary of Skye Bank PLC.  During its first three years in existence, the Bank experienced serious difficulties both in the business area and in its image management. This was largely due to ineffective management and the granting of unsecured loans which went bad and injured the capital of the Bank,” says the Managing Director, at an opening ceremony.

Peter Falohun noted that positive steps have been taken internally to address management issues and adequate measures have been put in place to ensure an effective and efficient management team that is committed to growth, hence our being here today at this branch’s opening.

At Skye Bank, he said they pride themselves as the number one in funds transfer and customer service; and added that they have been able to create a niche for ourselves in the Banking industry in Sierra Leone as these two elements were greatly lacking before this time.

“Over the last five years of our operations, we have committed ourselves to providing qualitative and yet assessable Banking services to our customers as well as providing a solid platform for cutting-edge banking services for both local and international businesses. We have a huge customer base and a balance sheet size in excess of 80 billion Leones and have gone on to partner with a number of local and international financial institutions to provide lines of credit to these entities in our objective of improving the financial landscape of Sierra Leone through investments,” says the hardworking MD.

Given the size of Sierra Leone and the volume of increasing financial activities, especially in the real estate development and mining sectors, the bank is looking forward to providing essential services in various parts of the country in the not too distant future as it hopes to be represented through the means of providing key services in the business value chain.

In attendance were several dignitaries including the Honorable Vice President of Sierra Leone H E Alhaji Sam Sumana and a host of top Management from the Bank of Sierra Leone including Head of Banking Supervision Mr. Tapsiru Dainkeh , Ms Andrina Coker.

A delegation from Nigeria were also in attendance which included The Group Managing Director Skye Bank PLC – Keihinde Durosimi Etti. The Delegates from Skye Bank Nigeria are Mr. Agbabiaka, Timothy Oguntayo, Abimbolsa Isu, Kayode Aniru, Femi Aribaloye, Mr. Taju Abdulsalam, Mr. Femi Olanihun.

The Bank is poised to take a new direction in terms of building its financial base and rebranding its image as one that here to provide quality customer service in the course of rendering its basic services to the public.

The branch was formally opened by His Excellency the Vice President.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors for Skye Bank SL Ltd Dr. Patrick Coker served in the capacity as chairman for the occasion.

The Bank rounded the celebration of events with a cocktail at Country Lodge in faovur of its esteemed customers and partners.
