Business people express bitterness on SLCPC

Information reaching this press authoritatively confirms that members of the Sierra Leone Consumer Protection Council (SLCPC) are in the habit of constantly demanding money or sometimes requesting for assistance in kind.

According to an inside source, the executive of the SLCPC has received complaints from certain business people along Sani Abacha Street in Freetown alleging that some members of the Council have frequently visited their shop asking for assistance of various kinds.

To bring a stop to this bad practice, the source said the executive of the Council has issued a stern warning to all business people on the Sani Abacha Street axis not to extend any assistance to anybody purporting to be a member of the Council but to report such an individual or groups of people to the nearest Police Station.

A Lebanese businessman who preferred anonymity told this paper that what had discouraged them is the racist way of checking on them leaving the Nigerians, Ghanaians, Fulas, and Sierra Leoneans out of the exercise while they pester the lives of Lebanese and Indian business people.

Expressing his bitterness, he stated that they are the only genuine business people in the country who employ five or more workers in their shops working who he said they pay well and assist in other ways.
