Tegloma awards Ambassador Bockari Stevens

The Board, Executive and membership of the Washington DC Chapter of the “TEGLOMA Organization Inc. has recognized the outstanding contributions of Sierra Leone’s Ambassador accredited to the United States of America (USA), Central America and the Bahamas, H.E Bockari Kortu Stevens and proudly awarded him during the organization’s annual convention in Maryland, USA, in recognition of his support to the Sierra Leone Community in the entire USA.  (Photo: l-r Ambassador Bockari Stevens receiving the Prestigious Award from TEGLOMA Chairman)

According to TEGLOMA Washington DC Chapter President Victor Tarmoh, “it is my greatest pleasure to inform you (Ambassador), that the Board, Executive and membership of the Washington DC chapter have noted with admiration that you have continually made yourself systematically available to all Sierra Leonean individuals and organizations when they called upon you –  irrespective of ideological variances. “As a result, the organization has decided to gracefully honor you publicly with an award during our 2012 TEGLOMA Federation International Convention on Saturday September 1 2012.”

Accepting the award amidst thunderous applause and roaring voices from the jubilant crowd, Ambassador Bockari Stevens had to tarry a while for the noise and applause to subside before he thanked the TEGLOMA organization for recognizing him. The envoy said he was only doing his work in accordance with the mandate of President Ernest Bai Koroma without fear or favor. Ambassador Stevens then shared the glory with his deputy Chief of Mission Ambassador Ibrahim S. Conteh, Head of Chancery Sheku Mesali and the rest of the Embassy personnel.

TEGLOMA is one of the oldest outstanding Sierra Leonean organizations with 25 chapters in different parts of the USA. It is a US registered philanthropic organization with a mission to enhance lives and transform communities in rural Sierra Leone.

Almost one week ago, Ambassador Bockarie Kortu Stevens and the Minister Plenipotentiary to the United Nations  Reverend Leroy Wilfred Kabs-Kanu were among several distinguish people including Medico’s, Engineers and Academics who were awarded by the House of Fame and Save Sierra Leone in the USA, after being recognized for their commitments to their work,services to society and humanity during a colorful ceremony in Maryland, USA.
