Ahead Of Tunisia Encounter… Leone Stars Players Threaten Strike Action
As Leone Stars prepare to engage Tunisia on 8th September 2012 at the National Stadium in the 1st leg for South Africa 2013 Nations Cup, the suspension of team captain, Ibrahim Obreh Kargbo and Kei Kamara by the Minister of Sports, Paul Kamara becomes the biggest football debate at the moment which is affecting preparations ahead of the all-important fixture.
In July this year, the sports minister and the FA reached a decision to suspend both players as a result of indiscipline, a decision which according to the Minister is irreversible.
The suspended players protested that they are not guilty of committing any football crime and were only informed of the decision by friends. Family members and football supporters, ex-Football legends, and stakeholders have all appealed to the minister to lift the suspension for the good of the country as Leone Stars have a clear chance to qualify for South Africa 2013 Nations Cup, but the minister is still defiant.
A cross section of the professional players invited to join the squad for the match revealed to this press that they will continue to stand by their two suspended players who have done nothing wrong and vow not to wear the green, white and blue jersey until the matter is handled well by the government, adding that none of them can betray their cause as they are in constant communication with each other.
Dozens of Leone Stars fans have vowed to create chaos on the day of Leone Stars Vs Tunisia match if the players’ suspensions are not lifted and Leone Stars beaten at home they angrily revealed at various radio sports programmes across the country.
