Parliament approves 3 presidential nominees
FREETOWN, 20 JUNE (SLENA) – Parliament has approved three presidential nominees to head various public institutions in the country.
These are Mrs. Evert Elizabeth Saving, Ambassador to Geneva, Switzerland and Permanent Representative to the UN. Mrs. Konah Cicilla Koroma, member Sierra Leone Tourist board and Alhaji Abubakarr Fofanah board member, Sierra Leone Road Transport Authority were the two other nominees approved.
Making her contributions on the approved nominees, Dr Bernadette Lahai of the SLPP commended the president for nominating well experienced Sierra Leoneans to head outstanding institutions and putting women in the positions of trust.
Dr. Lahai urged the approved nominees to deliver in the interest of the nation, more particularly the tourism sector of the country.
In his contribution, Hon. Ibrahim Sorrie thanked president Koroma for appointing women in positions of trust, noting that the president was working in line with the 30 percent quota concept for women in politics.
He commended the approved nominees and urged the ambassador to the Geneva to rally behind international organizations to bring development to Sierra Leone.
The Acting minority leader of the house, Hon. Emmanuel W. Tommy also added his voice to the commendations.
Leader of parliament, Hon. S.B.B .Dumbuya assured that all the approved nominees will surely work in the interest of the country.
The Speaker of Parliament, Justice Abel Strong, congratulated the approved nominees and wished them well in their respective responsibilities.
