Congratulatory Message from Alhaji Usman Boie Kamara
Colleagues and Friends: On behalf of my family and the UBK2012 campaign team, I would like to congratulate members and supporters of the Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) generally, and the various North American Chapters, as we celebrate the 60th anniversary of our party.
This year marks a great moment in the history of our party. A great moment because we are not only celebrating our anniversary, but the Golden Jubilee of Sierra Leone’s independence – the independence our forefathers ushered in. Therefore, it is very necessary for members and supporters of the great Palm Tree to celebrate the milestone we have achieved over the years. The success of leading Sierra Leone to independence and laying the foundation for our people to live in Unity, Freedom and Justice will always remain a reality.
Whilst we continue to build on the sacrifices and hard work of our forefathers, we must not forget that our political objective must be achieved through peaceful and democratic means. We must always remember that this is what our party stand for, our members have lived for, many have died for and many will continue to sacrifice for.
Now and more than ever we must encourage all members to work in the interest of party unity. We all without exception must respect each other, the authority and leadership of the party and uphold the rule of law. Now is the time to promote those things that will unite us and discourage those that will divide us. It is only in unity that we are sure of bouncing back to power in 2012.
Let us remember that Sierra Leoneans are One People! Sierra Leone is One Country! Our only country.
As an aspirant for the SLPP flagbearership race and God willing the next president of Sierra Leone in 2012, let me assure you of my continued contribution and support to build a united and prosperous party.
Once again, I wish you a happy 60th Anniversary celebration.
