Murder at No.2 River SLP, Headman, Others Implicated

This Ungodly act against late Mr. Abubakarr Sankoh has been a secret affair among security personnel at the Adonkia Police Station until it was made public at a well attended press conference held at the Mass Complex, Calaba Town in Freetown on July 28th, 2020.
Delivering his solemn statement, former Headman for the Number 2 River community, Mr. Abubakarr Conteh narrated that on 16th May, this year, late Testao Sanko and friends went to watch a family land at Tokeh.
He said at around 5pm in the evening of the same day, he received a distressed call from one Mohamed that the current Headman for Number 2 River community, Joseph Chernor Jalloh had led a team of thugs and armed military officers who attacked them.
About thirty Minutes, former Headman said, he received another call that Testao has been taken to the Adonkia Police Station where he was to be detained but the police could not detain him because of the torture he suffered in the hands of his attackers.
When I arrive at the police station at Adonkia where he was dragged to, Mr. Conteh said, he met the deceased laid on the bare floor half naked with broken neck, both hands damaged and could not walk for himself, noting that the helpless Testao was handed over to him and took him to Sussex for First Aid treatment.
“In the next morning I was also called that Testao’s condition has worsen”, he told audience and maintained that they went back at the Adonkia Police Station where a medical form was issued to him and took him to the Connaught Hospital, where he unfortunately gave up the ghost within an hour as a result of persistent bleeding through his private part. “I called again the Police and said the young man had passed away”, he said and expressed amazement for the Police at Adonkia to discharged all suspects including the Headman and his adviser on the basis that there was no case against them.
He continued that they went to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) where statements obtained from family members of the deceased, adding that the Head of CID addressed him that a complained was filed against him that he wanted to course atrocity within the Number Two River community and if it happens, they would deal with him because, according to Mr. Conteh, the CID Boss told him that the current Headman, Joseph Chernor Jalloh is an SLPP son, adding that but since Mr. Jalloh took the throne, the whole community rendered to an unrest situation with thug lifestyles perpetrated against peaceful citizens.
He said the deceased was influential during his days as a community football coach and senior member of a social club.
The youth representative, Paul Sangoh said the Late Testao was a close friend and brother to him. As tears ran his eyes, Mr. Sangoh explained that on the 16th of May, they were sent by the grandfather of the deceased to watch his land. On their way, Mr. Sangoh said they spotted the Head man, Joseph Chernor Jalloh right up the hill, noting that on their way back home, they saw a huge crowd with armed security personnel, while he said the civilians thugs who were allegedly led by Thoronka under the auspices of the Head man held cutlasses, knives, sticks and other sharp objects. He said they chased them over long distance but Testao who is a pressure patient got tired and dropped on the ground in the presence of, advancing that he heard Testao crying “Wu na sorry for me” but no one came to his rescue as he was surrounded by enemies. He disclosed that Testao was beaten mercilessly and dived in deep water until he started bleeding through hi private part. At this stage, the young man said, the thugs reported to the Head man, Joseph Chernor Jalloh that they have captured Testao, noting that he heard the Head man said deal with him even to death.
He said the other day, Joseph Chernor Jalloh, Ana Bell met him and threatened that he would be the next to kill and stressed that the most disheartening part of this ugly happening, the police released all suspects and they are now mocking family members of the decease with loud music and invectives on a daily basis. He said since they are law abiding citizens they depend on the due process of the law until truth and justice prevail in the end. He said Mr. Chernor Jalloh’s sympathizers are all over the place with the remarks that the Headman is the Chief Minister’s Professor David Francis errand boy.
The mother of the deceased, Madam Aminata Conteh said Testao is her only son and called human rights activists and the media to fight for them as a frustrated family. “I will die soon and follow my son if justice is not prevail over the mysterious death of her son”, she cried and pointed out that her 28 years old son passed through a painful death.
One of the late’s man aunt, Madam Isatu Conteh said Teastao was plumber and before he met his sudden death, he passed to my house with colleagues and drank water, adding that when she was questioning the late man, he complained of broken neck, pain on his hip and both hand shattered.
Taken over the mike, representative of the Legal Aid Board (LAB), Mr. Olu Garber said the high turnout in the meeting demonstrated that they are law abiding people that follows the legal framework, adding that the mandate of LAB is to provide access to justice to the poor across the country.
On behalf of LAB, he expressed sympathy to the bereaved family and expressed confidence that Executive Director for LAB, Fatmata Carlton Claire Hanciles is always ready and willing to provide justice for every Sierra Leonean without fear or favor. “This role family members have taken shows that they respected the Rule of Law”, he maintained and assured that they would continue to monitor the file of the deceased until it gains utmost attention and encouraged the bereaved family to continue remain peaceful until the file comes from the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP). “Justice must be done on this file”, he assured listeners and concluded that the Government and the Law Officers Department will follow justice irrespective of connection or link.
However, the Post Mortem result of late Abubakarr Testao Sankoh showed that he died of Wet Drowning.
Contacting the police, the head of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), Frank Alpha, told this writer that the case was not compromised as alleged. He said that the suspects were released because they had no case as the postmortem result vindicated them even though the perpetrators are said to have wet-drowned the deceased severally.
The headmen, as at press time has declined from commenting on the allegations stating that he will respond to them at the appropriate time.
