Bio’s Year Of Delivery In Shambles
So many questions have been raised by concerned citizens as to whether President Julius Maada Bio New Year’s message in which he says 2020 was his Government’s year of delivery, has been actualized or is on the right footing.
According to fact findings, citizens are worried that their hopes may have been watered down for the fact sooner the President pronounced that all cabinet Ministers and other essential Government workers to be accountable and work towards delivering elections campaign trumpeted promises, the killer Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) invaded the country and killed many lives.
As a result of the COVID-19 outbreak, higher taxation levied on investors and inflation of basic commodities, the country experienced mass evacuation of foreign investors and closure of business houses.
Above all, the total closure of school for too long now has also prompted citizens to further ask if the Free Quality Education will be achieved as the Government flagship project and priority area to develop.
During the 2018 election campaign trail, President Bio also verbally promised to construct the Lungi Toll Bridge, but no foundation has been dug and his government is now clocking close to three years. “If President Bio fails to implement some of his Government priority projects, what will he have to present to the people of Sierra Leone upon relinquishing power,” they queried.
As the cost of living continues to become tougher and unimaginable for the vulnerable an less privilege, citizens are appealing to chose another year of delivery for Sierra Leone, because they said as the year 2020 is fade away, he may not able to meet this year target of delivery.
According to citizens, President Bio will only be in position to do more for the country if he chose 2021 as another year of delivery for the ruling Sierra Leone Peoples Part (SLPP) Government, noting that 2022 will definitely be a campaign period to go for the 2023 most wanted elections.
Findings also unearthed that it will be very difficult for the SLPP to win a genuine future election in Sierra Leone if the former army Brigadier continues failing to manifest key deliverables, noting that if the appalling system of education continues and the issue of food shortage remains unaddressed, then what message will the SLPP politicians have to preach to citizens to secure a re-election?.
