Encroachment in to FAWE Land, Ministry of Lands Exposed…

Investigation mounted by this medium over the diabolical moves to sell land belonging to the Forum for Africa Women Educationists (FAWE) at Grafton have exposed the Lands Ministry of undermining the Government Free Quality Education (FQE) project.

It could be recalled that after the eleven years civil war, to get citizens back on their normal lives, the Tejan Kabba led Government established many resettlement and reintegration projects.

FAWE was established as one of such projects to help both vulnerable girls and women with their education and skills training to be self reliant. The Government therefore gave ten acres land to FAWE at Grafton for the construction of structures to facilitate the Forum learning activities.

According to our investigations, the Forum constructed buildings on some portion of the land which was being used for free primary and junior secondary schools education and vocational trainings for tailoring, catering and gara tie dying among others.

The investigations furthered that projects proposals were being sent to different donor partners for the development of the reserved land. The project captured the expansion of the school to senior secondary with the building of ten classroom blocks, library, bordering homes, recreational facilities and field.

“Taking advantage of President Bio led New Direction which prioritizes education as its flagship project, the FAWE management spread their tentacles in more search of donor funding to develop the reserved land.” Revealed our investigations.

The project proposal according to source catches the eyes of two donor partners who had already send team to conduct feasibility study at the project site after approval for the construction of ten class room blocks, bordering home, library and a recreational facility.

While awaiting the kickoff of the project, a team from the Ministry of Lands headed by the Minister, Dr. Dennis Sandy visited the land claiming that Government want to use the land for dwelling purpose which resulted to confrontation between them and the pupils of the school.

Resident of Grafton are questioning as to why the land Ministry would embark on a move that will undermine Government flagship project. FAWE, they said have been offering free education to vulnerable girls across the country.

The New Direction FQE they added would have therefore been at the advantage of FAWE and not the other way.
