MP, Councilors Collaborate to Fight COVID 19
The Member of Parliament for Constituency 125, Honorable Alusine Kainde Alu-Conteh in collaboration with Councilor Mateneh Conteh of Ward 430 and Councilor Murray Alie Conteh of Ward 431 has mounted a robust sensitization on preventing the Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19).
Moving house to house sensitization within the constituency, Honorable Conteh explained to constituents on the way and manner the Corona Virus has devastated the world and costs many lives, noting that COVID-19 is not strange to Sierra Leoneans as we have fought and conquered the deadly Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) which shares similar signs, symptoms and preventive methods.
“We have seen great nations which should have rendered assistance to us succumbed to the killer virus”, he stated and described the 13 reported cases of COVID-19 in Sierra Leone as a serious concern for every citizen in and out of the country.
In that regard, Hon. Conteh said they have stand firm with stakeholders to heighten sensitization in the entire constituency so that no one would be loss to the disease. “That is why as the people representative together with councilors we took the challenge to sensitize our constituents to see reasons why they must observe all preventive measures pronounced by Government for nobody to be infected,” he told his audience.
He advised constituents to wash their hands frequently, avoid social gathering and to cover their mouths with handkerchief when sneezing and coughing. He also sensitized them to stop hand shaking, hugging and to practice social distancing.
The house to house sensitization and the distribution of Veronica buckets, sanitizers, hand gloves and facial mask started from Kolleh Town in Congo Town vicinity, Kingtom, Kroo Town Road, Siaka Stevens Street, Wilberforce Street and Ecowas Street to Adelaide Street respectively.
