Amidst Concerns over Coronavirus … NCRA Proves Adamant
The main opposition Leader in Parliament, Chernor Maju Bah (Chericoco) has raised serious public concern on the way and manner the National Civil Registration Authority (NCRA) is going on with their registration when the Government has stopped all public gathering activities.
Hon. Bah who was responding to media interviews last Friday in the well of Parliament said the issue they raised as the peoples representatives has nothing to do with NCRA but, he said it is a security concern that would guarantee the wellbeing of Sierra Leoneans.
He said their concern is to see how Government could prevent the spread of the deadly virus in the country, noting that the Government has stopped airlines from entering the country, congregational prayers in Mosques and Churches but why NCRA continues with the registration. He described NCRA work in the midst of Coronavirus Disease (COVID 19) sensitization as double standard role.
He maintained that they committed in supporting the Government and President Bio in the fight against the virus. He admonished all to be honest among ourselves in the fight against the menace because it is not a political battle but for the interest of the entire nation.
He said the people in Freetown and across the country are worried over the issue of Coronavirus, adding that legislative arm of Government, they in Parliament not to keep quite but to speak in the interest of the people they represented.
“We don’t want Government to spend and waste money”, he warned and recalled that during the height of the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD), Government diverted all resources to help contain the virus.
He encouraged all to fight the Coronavirus with sincerity because, he said if anything happens, we have ourselves to blame.
