As Court Action Threatens Flood Victims Minister to Visit Site
The Minister of Lands and Country Planning, Dr. Dennis Sandy will today, Monday 10th February 2020 pay a visit at the flood victim’s site, Kowama Bramah Crossing community in the Western Rural District to find out who owns the disputed land where the Government of Sierra Leone relocated them.
The visit of the Minister came as a means of responding to a complaint tendered by hundreds of the flood victims last Tuesday, alleging that one Pastor Michael of God is love Mission Church has grabbed seven acres portion of land in connivance with a Lebanee national, Kamal Michael Wanza, who claimed to be the power of Attorney of the disputed land where the flood victims settled.
Contacting the Pastor Michael Kargbo who had already built a Church and erected over twenty bakings on the designated land said, he bought the land from Kamal Wanza with legal documents to proof his case.
He said the aim of the Mission is not only build a church but also to construct a school and an orphanage for flood victims children to access quality and affordable learning environment.
In hs response, Kamal Wanza said he is not the owner of the disputed land but only serves as power of attorney of the land in question.
He argued that the land where the then led All Peoples Congress (APC) Government of Ex-President Koroma is not a state property but a private property owned by Mr. Hussein A. Fawaz.
The power of attorney, Kamal Wanza has challenged that he would take the matter to court if Dr. Sandy approve that the land is a state property.
The flood victims advanced that they rely on Government and the Minister, because they were relocated by the Government as a result of the natural disaster which rendered them homeless. “It is not our making to be flood victims but the will of God,” they stated and vowed that they wouldn’t go anywhere until the Government which relocated removes them from the location.
