British Council Connecting Classrooms Programme ends 6 days Training for teachers and heads of schools in Freetown
British Council through the connecting classrooms project held a 6 days workshop for School leaders and teachers. Seventy (70) heads of schools in Freetown Rural and Urban were trained on Instructional Leadership. Instructional Leadership is also known as leadership of teaching and learning. This takes account of improving the quality of teaching and learning. The workshop helped school leaders to understand the principles and practices of effective teaching and assessment for learning to evaluate and improve the quality of teaching and learning in schools. Sixty (60) Teachers were also trained on Core skills whilst sixty (60) received in-depth training on critical thinking and problem-solving. This provides a practical introduction to core skills and how to increase the quality of teaching and learning through fostering such skills in the classroom. The workshop focuses on raising awareness and Deeping school teachers understanding of why core skills and competencies are important for their students. Appropriate tools to monitor and assess how well these are presently being thought are supported in their schools. Critical Thinking is self-directed thinking that produces new and innovative ideas and solves problem. Critical thinking course helps teachers to understand how to successfully use critical thinking strategies.
