Local Government Minister Monitors Cleaning Exercise In Kambia
On the 1st of February, 2020 the Minister of Local Government and Rural Development Amb. Tamba Lamina, monitored the National Cleaning Day exercise in Kambia, the second months of national cleaning exercise this year.
He was joined by stakeholders in the district including Mohamed Jayah Bangura, Chairman Kambia District Council (KDC), John JS Samura of the Health Management Team Kambia District, Superintendent Tarawally, Councilor Foday Mansaray of Ward 200, Abdul C Kamara, Manager Radio Scarcies, Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to Guinea HE Alimamy Hassan Bangura and the Chief Administrator of KDC Gbawuru Sillah. This team untiringly visited strategic places in Kambia such as the KDC, Solid waste site, Bamoi market, Rokupr community, Kambia Community reseach center, Gbalamuya.The Minister was absolutely impressed with the full cooperation of the people in the cleaning exercise and appealed for such cooperation, coordination and commitment to continue in subsequent cleaning exercises. It was clear that the Minister had introduced a new model of monitoring the exercise which the Deputy Minister and other staff of the Local Government Ministry were using to monitor the cleaning exercise in other parts of the country.The Minister after his observation, suggested to to the KDC to construct a fence around the vicinity of the solid waste and to also clear the drainages to avoid future flooding.In a nutshell, the entire cleaning exercise was a huge success although few challenges were noticed.
