Man Sent to Correctional Centre for Obtaining Money by False Pretence

Joseph Samba Kamara has been denied bail on one count charge of obtaining money by false pretence contrary to section 32 (1) of the larceny Act 1916.

The accused, Joseph Samba Kamara was before Magistrate EK Cowan of Magistrate Court No. six (6), Pa Demba Road in Freetown on Thursday, January 30th, 2020.

The particulars of offence stated that on diverse dates between 1st and 30th November, 2019 at back of NASSIT Building, the accused received the sum of five million six hundred thousand Leones (Le5, 600.000) from the complainant, Zainab Kargbo, allegedly pretending to rent her a bedroom and a parlor.

The accused pleaded not guilty of the allegation and there was no lawyer to represent him. The matter is prosecuted by Inspector Grace Smith. The accused was sent to Correctional Centre and the matter was adjourned to February 4th, this year.
