Against That Wicked Act Of EDSA
Our country, Sierra Leone is becoming something else in terms of politics and political affiliations. Our political loyalties have now become an endemic disease that largely determines our individual actions even at the expense of national interest and development. We are now living in a world of our own where nobody cares about the peace, unity, freedom, development and justice of our nation but rather, individual political views and interests.
This situation has become so ingrained that even private entities that ought to be politically free, now also play the political syndrome that has eaten deep into our societal human intrinsic worth. Basic services that are supposed to be provided for the society by those entities have also turned out to be obsequious.
One of such entities is the Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA), who for reasons still to comprehend, deliberately and mischievously depriving the people of Sierra Leone from electricity supply which is a basic national service. Throughout the pre-election and electioneering period, the country has been enjoying uninterrupted supply of electricity all to their credit. But since the announcement of the election result that saw the coming of the then main opposition Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) to power, the country is now consistently been deprived of electricity supply. Whether it is a calculated plot to sabotage the new government still remains a conundrum that shall be unfolded in a moment. What is also more baffling is the fact that since this unfortunate turn out of events, nobody from the institution or whatsoever has said a word as to the reason(s) for this unpatriotic act.
Do EDSA know that they are not doing anybody a favor by supplying electricity? The people are paying for your services and as such deserve to get the service they paying for
Do they also know that they are to be apolitical? You are not supplying electricity to any political party but the people of the country. Your services are not for any political group or interest, it is a national service that is meant for everybody regardless of religion, tribe, colour or political affiliation.
We are therefore calling on EDSA to wake up from their slumber and realize that politics is over and it is now time to go back to work.
