Sierra Leone Ex Service Personnel Overseas launched in the diaspora
Sierra Leone Ex Service Personnel Overseas has been launched in the diaspora to raise funds in support of projects to benefit retired colleagues, the children of serving members killed in the line of duty and those suffering post war trauma in Sierra Leone.Ourgoal is to lend a helping hand to restore and preserve the dignity of our veterans consistent with their honorable services.
Over the years, the number of Sierra Leone Ex Service Personnel residing overseas has increased. Some reached the end of their desire to continue serving the Armed Forces, whilst others left the service in search of education and job opportunities overseas.
We share similar aims and objectives with the Sierra Leone Ex Service Men’s Association in Sierra Leone, and collaborate to facilitate our common goals and interests. Like many of our contemporary Ex-Service members of the Army, Navy and Air forces worldwide, we are glued to each other because ours is an institution whose philosophy is anchored in brotherhood and commitment to one another on and off the battlefield.
The Sierra Leone Ex Service Personnel Overseas was formed out of the need to continue demonstrating collective patriotism through philanthropic support to former serving men and women of the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces. It was also formed to foster the unique camaraderie by which we are bound and seek ways to raise funds to help those in dire need.
To this end, the Sierra Leone Ex Service Personnel Overseas will be holding a fundraising dinner and dance on Saturday, September 26 2015 in Maryland, USA. Proceeds from this event will go to funding our projects.
