Why President Koroma is still popular despite the hardship
The president is still hugely popular after all these years. All it took last Saturday for President Ernest Bai Koroma to demonstrate that he is still the beloved man of the people was to drive himself without any escort through the streets of the busy capital city – something no African leader would dare do today.
Despite the hardship, people jubilated when they saw him. Swarming crowds of excited, buoyant and appreciative people, especially the much-misrepresented youths, while still avoiding body contact and handshakes to obey the Ebola protocols, came out in full swing to receive their man and show him that they still love him.
The big message last Saturday was that President Koroma is still popular with the people and still loved, appreciated and respected. The reasons that President Koroma remains popular with the people are many… firstly, while not considering himself perfect (since nobody is perfect); President Koroma is very sincere and puts his sincerity into action, which is what Allah looks for in human beings he made in his own image.
