President Koroma Receives Delegation from Bank of Industry Nigeria

A delegation from Bank of Industry (BOI) in Nigeria, led by the Executive Director for Business Development, Waheed Olagunji, paid a courtesy call on President Dr Ernest Bai Koroma at the State Lodge, Hill Station to finalize plans for the resuscitation of the National Development Bank (NDB) in Sierra Leone.

Welcoming the delegation, President Koroma said the resuscitation of NDB to provide medium term financial support to farmers and SMEs is long overdue, adding that it can be done through Government-private partnership or government-to-government cooperation. The president paid tribute to the Nigerian leader, President Goodluck Jonathan for instructing his Minister of Trade and Investment to send a team to visit Freetown.

The visit among other things according to Mr. Olagunji, was also to acquaint themselves with the operations of the National Commission for Privatization (NCP) as well as to gain insights into the efforts government was making to move the process forward. The delegation also explored possibility at the bilateral level for the development of the agricultural and industrial sectors in the country, and will submit its recommendations to His Excellency, President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.

BOI is the oldest, largest and most successful financial institution in Nigeria that provides long-term financial support to various industries of the country’s economy, including Start-Ups, SMEs and large enterprises and companies.

The visiting delegation also met with the Minister of Finance and Economic Development and the Governor of the Bank of Sierra Leone.
