Disgruntled aspirant wants Tambakha Chiefdom di–amalgamated

According to a disgruntled aspirant at the Tambakha chiefdom chieftaincy election, Mr. Muctarr Kamara, commonly called the Researcher, spoke to this medium that those who vowed to contest for chieftaincy election had been disenfranchised by the provincial secretary and the resident minister north, especially those at Upper Tambakha which has the highest electorate, adding that it will be of the interest of every one to get the chiefdom di-amalgamated

He insisted that the people at Upper Tambakha have the right to present candidates as it was an agreement signed during the colonial days,  noting that the Lower Tambakha has the right to present candidates –  but now that the 2009 Act stated that all the chiefdom has the right to get a candidate, noting that government never did an investigation as to whether there had been an  existing  agreement signed between the two chiefdoms, realizing that the people of Tambakha strongly believes in the laws, customs and traditions.

The present issue is that they have been amalgamated and now there is no unity amongst them so they must di-amalgamate or else the government should allow every candidate to participate in the next Chieftaincy election. It could be recalled that a meeting was held sometime ago with the Ministry of local government but no decision was taken and now that the people has decided to boycott the upcoming chieftaincy election and will not listen to the voice of the people.

The amalgamation was a traditional agreement. In 1960 the people decided to divide the chiefdom upper and lower but the surface area of the lower is bigger than upper Tambakha.
