Sierra Leone envoy addresses ACP ambassadors in Brussels

His Excellency, Hon. Ambassador Ibrahim Sorie has told colleague Ambassadors of the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) Group of States that the prosperity which President Ernest Bai Koroma wishes for his people is the prosperity that is not limited to the few but rather, an all embracing prosperity. “A shared prosperity that is not limited to the elites in our society but that which extends to the ordinary man in the streets and the rural poor”.

Ambassador Sorie was addressing his counterparts during his formal introduction ceremony to the Committee of Ambassadors of the ACP at the organisation’s headquarters in Brussels.

He dilated that President Koroma’s Agenda for Prosperity which was recently launched to mark his final term in office is aimed at eradicating poverty, raising the living standards and quality of life of his people; improving the educational institutions and building the nation’s human capital.

“It is an agenda for the transformation of both our economic and social infrastructure particularly our roads, airports and seaports. It calls for the forging of partnerships with our development partners, the private sector both domestic and foreign”.

He reiterated that one of his mandates is to market the Agenda for Prosperity within the framework of the ACP and EU.

“We need your partnership and support. Sierra Leone needs the participation of the vibrant private sectors in your respective countries to partner with us. You can invest while creating jobs for our unemployed youths, transfer skills and new technologies and help us create a win-win situation”.

Ambassador Sorie reaffirmed his determination to work towards the realisation of the ACP.

Congratulating Ambassador Sorie, the ACP scribe, Alhaji Muhammad Mumuni expressed hope that the new kid-on-the-bloc would utilise his vast political and professional experience for the benefit of the organisation and further wished him well in his tour of duties.
