Kenema Government Hospital to Receive Uniform Supply From Government

Isatu Kamara, the matron of the Kenema Government Hospital, has disclosed to this press that each worker at the hospital will receive a brand new uniform from the government of Sierra Leone through the local councils in the district.

She informed this press that from the core staff to the least laborer will be dressed in their full uniform starting May this year.

Matron Isatu Kamara described the move as a novelty in the history of the hospital for all workers to be dressed on a daily basis as they come for work. She said the move was put in place by the Health Service Commission a few years ago, but she has thought it necessary this time to engage the council to speedily address this need.  Isatu kamara said to her greatest satisfaction Mayor J.S. Keifala embraced the move and the money was disbursed and the procurement done in a speedy manner.

She cataloged some of the gains that the hospital is proud of, including a large acre of land to erect more buildings, the construction of the maternity ward to an ultramodern style with equipment already installed and awaits commissioning by the government.  She noted that the equipment cost millions of dollars which the Kenema people will benefit after commissioning the facility.

Matron Isatu Kamara said among the constrains is the large influx of patients, especially the Pediatric Ward which needs additional structures to host the growing number of under-5 year old children.  She also requested the central government to send additional pediatricians to complement the CHO’s working at the ward.
