Mercury International (SL) Ltd gives SWASAL Le 16M for Biennial Congress
The Chairman of Mercury International (SL) Ltd. Charity Foundation Mr. Samir Hassanyeh on Monday March 11 2013 presented a cheque of Sixteen Million Leones to the President of SWASAL Mr. Mohamed Fajah Barrie.
Making the presentation at his office at 25 Rawdon Street in Central Freetown, the Chairman Samir Hassanyeh said that it was in fulfillment of a promise made following a request from the current SWASAL Executive to organize the association’s maiden Biannual Congress on Saturday March 16, 2013.
He noted thus: “this presentation is in fulfillment of an early promise to assist SWASAL hold your Biannual Congress as part of Mercury International social-cooperate responsibility.”
Mr. Hassanyeh praised the efforts SWASAL is making regarding the promotion of sports in Sierra Leone and urged members not to relent in their quest to ensure ‘the development of all sports in the country.’
Receiving the cheque, the SWASAL President Mr. Mohamed Fajah Barrie thanked the chairman for the laudable gesture.
He recalled how few days ago the same company gave the association over Le 15M to furnish and equip their Secretariat at the SLAJ Headquarters, noting further with Mercury International (SL) Ltd. as the association’s sole sponsor, his executive had fulfilled almost all of the promises made before coming into office in 2010.
“Therefore,” said he, “the Executive is pleased to inform you that you have been officially invited to make a statement on behalf of the entire Mercury International (SL) Ltd. in our forthcoming Biennial Congress on Saturday 16th March, 2013.”
