Sierra Leone’s Rodney Strasser celebrates a come back

A C Milan and Leone Stars defensive midfielder, Rodney Strasser, in a delighted mood revealed to Sierra Express Media that he has finally regained fitness after sustaining a long term ankle injury in Italy.

According to him he was disappointed for not playing football for a long time but thanked God he was featured for 75 minutes in an Italian cup match against Regiana, a match they won 3-1 in December 2012. Strasser has also featured in other matches although he has been substituted on several occasions.  “This time around my focus is to try hard and impress my coach so that I can play in the starting team”, he said.

“I’ll be in good shape in March when the national team will be playing against Tunisia in the Brazil 2014 World Cup qualifying match and I’m optimistic that we’ll beat them and have the opportunity to make it to Brazil”.

The ace midfielder continued that “In football anything can happen, it is possible that this is our time as we have a very good and young squad who are determined to put up an impressive performance.”

He thanked his family, colleagues, friends, fans, Sierra Leoneans and well wishers who have been praying for him while he was in pain and appealed to football lovers to be united for the development of the game in our country.
