FCC to Continue with Technical Planning
The Public Relations Officer of the Freetown City Council (FCC), Mr. Cyril Mattia has said that FCC will continue with its Technical Planning Committee in respect of the effective management of various sectors; adding that the committee was set up by law to help bring together various actors to discuss the way forward on effective and efficient implementation of programs, policies, and projects in the Freetown municipality.
Mr. Mattia intimated that this committee meets once a month to address crucial issues such as primary health care delivery, social services, waste management, etc.
The Acting Chief Administrator Mr. John Conteh who doubles as the chair of the committee says very important matters have been highlighted during the course of this year and FCC needs to tackle them for the benefit of the city of Freetown.
One particular notable aspect of this committee, according to Mr. Mattia, was the manner in which devolved functions were carried out and how management of funds and assets was achieved. He noted that there has been an extensive collaboration between the FCC and other sectors to achieve maximum results, for example the cleaning of devolved hospitals, the purchase of cost-recovery drugs, and general management of these hospitals. The PRO stressed the fact that the meetings have been frank and open to views and have mostly accepted the decisions taken.
