Sierra Leone’s Sahr Nguajah lead actor for “FELA” at Slaviya Lounge in Adam Morgan
Born in the USA and raised in Atlanta, the son of an immigrant from Sierra Leone and an American mother, Sahr Ngaujah began his career conventionally enough. Initially part of a Christian rap group called 4MD (Four More Disciples) he enrolled in a high school for the arts that was part of the same flourishing Atlanta arts scene that has produced bands like Outkast, Xscape and Jagged Edge and the comedian Kenan Thompson of ” Saturday Night Live, ” and one of Sahr Ngaujah ‘s fellow cast members, the actress Saycon Sengbloh.
Sahr Ngaujah’s theatre work includes: FELA! (Broadway and West End) (Fela Anikulapo-Kuti). He was nominated for best actor in a musical both at the Tony Awards in New York and the Olivier Awards in London.
Television and film includes: Passing Glory, A Lesson Before Dying, The Signal, Stomp the Yard, Blood Done Sign My Name.
For over 15 years Sahr has worked as an actor and director between the US and Europe. He is a graduate of Dasarts Amsterdam.
