RTA Director exceeds target
Addressing pressmen Thursday 14 at his Sierra Leone Road Transport Authority (SLRTA) HQ office at Kissy Road, Board Chairman Prof. Harry Turay (in photo) disclosed that the Authority has exceeded its 85% contribution to the SLRA road fund.
“It is my pleasure to say to you that President Koroma has respectfully given accolade to management of SLRTA for good performance,” Prof. Harry Turay said.
He noted however that SLRTA Management is been doing extremely well but pleaded with the Traffic Wardens (TW) to fast track payments of outstanding Le14 billion of tickets issued traffic violators this 2011.
He assured the TWs that once efforts are made in the collection of the said amount, it sure that their salaries will be upgraded.
That it will also enhance SLRTA’s payment of more money into the SLRA Road Fund account.
He praises the Acting Executive Director, Mr. Ahmed K. Yansaneh, for excellent performance, adding that he is happy over ongoing reforms taking place at RTA.
He cited however that the close circuit television (CCTV) camera is to enhance security, stressing that non-employees hanging around the Authority’s premises would soon be put out of business.
That upgrading of the Management Information System (MIS) by Courte Ville International is to improve efficiency in revenue collection, track down defaulters that owes the Authority as well as help identify stolen vehicles including the introduction of the Temporary Tags.
Prof. Turay maintained that he will neither sleep nor slumber until the Authority becomes a success story under the leadership of A.K. Yansaneh.
He furthered that as at present SLRTA is totally entirely free of corruption.
“Corruption,” he said, “is a thing of the past.”
Prof. Turay attributed recent developments to the relentless efforts and innovations of A.K. Yansaneh, whom he described as God fearing, firm, focussed, patriotic, dedicated to duty, result oriented and an excellent administrator.
A good number of SLRTA Board Members also expressed similar sentiments.
Workers also toed the line of Prof. Turay and said they were misled staging a protest against the management.
