Radio Bar Kulan, Somali Football Federation’s Radio Station of the Year
The Somali Football Federation President Said Mahmoud Nur nominated Radio Bar Kulan the Radio Station of the Year in honour of the “great role that Bar Kulan radio took in the recently-concluded Somali Football championship.
The President also singled out the RBK Sports Correspondent, Abdirashid Abdi Ahmed, whose work has led to the award. He continued “The publicity of your Station among Somali sports-loving people became very high since early this year…attracting the attention of the biggest number of Somali sports-loving people…”.
Radio Bar Kulan is a public service radio station broadcasting non-partisan news, information, culture, entertainment and development programmes to Somalia and the Somali Diaspora.
The sports news programme is broadcast every day with particular attention to Somali as well international football.
The Director of Radio Bar Kulan said, “We are very pleased to receive this award from the Somali Football Federation. At a time when al-Shabaab have ordered young people to play less football, this award illustrates that Radio Bar Kulan is really serving the interests and social needs of its audience.
