Armed Robbers Terrorize Wellington

Residents of Wellington in the East of Freetown have prorated that the spate of armed robbery has intensified in their community making life completely in peril for peaceful dwellers that stay awake the whole night fearing attacks from armed robbers that have already wrecked untold suffering in the lives of people in Wellington and its environs.

One of the affected people and a resident of Melon Street in Wellington, Alimamy Kanu, disclosed that his community has become a death zone as robbers are constantly attacking people with machetes, razor blades, knifes and guns. He recounted that in the last two weeks over six people including him have been attacked at Melon Street alone, catering away with money and properties worth millions of Leones. Most of the robbers, according to reports, are said be masked when wrecking havoc on peaceful citizens.

Contacts at the Kissy Mess-Mess Police Station covering the affected areas say that the police are ill-equipped in terms of resources and personnel to play guard and patrol every street in the area. The police however suggest that the attackers are likely area boys that have taken to terrorizing the community.

However Sierra Express also met with youths that have taken upon themselves to serve as night guards in their various localities, helping in their words the police to fight the growing menace gripping the community.
